Epistrophe melanostoma/nitidicollis belongs to the subfamily Syrphinae, tribe Syrphini.Annotation:
The two species differ in the color of the hairs on the scutellum and in the covering of the wings with microtrichia.Epistrophe melanostoma: Scutellum yellow-haired, wings completely covered with microtrichia.
Epistrophe nitidicollis: Scutellum predominantly black-haired, on the 1st basal and other wing cells there are usually areas without microtrichia.
