Haematopota scutellata belongs to the subfamily Tabaninae.
Distribution:
Europe (absent in the north), in parts of Russia, Transcaucasus, Uzbekistan; rare species.
Habitat:
Prefers swamps and wooded wetlands of the mountain and foothills region.
Description:
Body length 9 - 11 mm; dark species; wings with dark brown pattern; scutellum with whitish grey spot in the middle; 1st antennal segment shiny black.
Biology:
Adults of Haematopota scutellata can be found from Juni to September.
