Length 10 - 12 mm; species with fully developed wings; basic colour dark brown to blackish; pronotum with rounded hind corners; antennae with 4 segments, the last curved; hind tibiae straight and without spines; hind femora of males thickened, with several spines on the underside.Biology:
Adults of Alydus calcaratus can be found from June to November. The larvae and imagines are phytophagous. They mostly feed on seeds of legumes (Fabaceae) of the genera Sarothamnus, Cytisus, Genista and Ulex.References, further reading, links:
