Classification:
Nemausus sordidatus belongs to the subfamily Alydinae.
Distribution and habitat:
Nemausus sordidatus is a species with an eremic (mainly in desert and steppe zones) circummediterranean distribution, extending eastwards to India and southwards to tropical Africa. The species can be found in the Canary Islands and in Europe in Portugal and Spain.
Description:
Length 11 - 12 mm; species with fully developed wings; body with reddish brown basic colouring; antennae with 4 segments; hind femora without white rings; hind tibiae straight, with 5 spines on the distal half pointing inwards.
Biology:
Larvae of Nemausus sordidatus were found on sweet thorn Vachellia karroo (synonym: Acacia karroo) from southern Africa.
